Do you have a broken telescope, or maybe one you bought and have just not been able to figure out how to use properly? Our Telescope Clinic could be the answer to your problems!
Held once a month prior to our business meetings, the Telescope Clinic staff can teach you how to use your telescope, or possibly explain a confusing aspect of it to you. We also have skilled repair people available who may be able to repair a broken part. Repairs (if we are able to do it) are done at no charge for labor. There may be a charge for parts and/or materials if any are needed. If we are not able to repair your telescope we most likely will be able to make a recommendation to you. Our clinic staff can also help you with things like aligning a finder scope, aligning the telescope optics, and the operation of your mount.
How to participate:
The clinics are held one hour prior to the start of our monthly business meetings, at 7:00 PM on the first Friday of each month (except July). Check the calendar on our events page to confirm when the meetings are.
You must pre-register with us by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org at least one week prior to the meeting date. Our meetings don’t start until 7:30 PM and we won’t have Telescope Clinic staff people on hand at 7:00 PM unless we know someone will be bringing in a telescope. When you send your email, please include as much detail as possible about the telescope you have and the problem or questions that you have. We have a wide array of experts and repair people, and having the right person available to address your problem requires that we know in advance what services you will need.
NSAAC is a 501c3 non-profit and there is no charge for the services of the Telescope Clinic. In the case of repairs, there may be a charge for parts or materials used. Donations to the club are always accepted, but are not expected.
