Minutes of the NSAAC Business Meeting April 5, 2019

President Deneen called the April Business Meeting of the NSAAC to order at 7:46 PM. There were 4 board members present and 9 club members. There was a quorum. Meeting was official. There were three visitors: Peter and Michel Annis, Steve Iskra, and Kathy Nevins.

The minutes of the March business meeting were approved by acclamation.

No Report

There are currently approximately 60 members in good standing.

Merrimack College:
Brewster LaMacchia reported:
March 6th with no guests
March 12th 20 Boy Scouts
March 19th 2 Scouts and 25 guests
March 20th 25 guests
March 27th 12 guests

Salem University:
Dennis Gudzevich reported that Collins observatory Collins Observatory was open on three occasions in March. Two Monday nights and one Observatory visit/star party. On Monday, March 18, 2019, Professor Luke Conlin and I opened the observatory and had six guests (all locals). The following evening we hosted a star party for Pack 11 Cub Scouts of Marblehead. We had a total of 30 guests, which included scouts and their families. Finally, on Monday, March 25, 2019 we opened the observatory and had ten guests (8 SSU students, and 2 locals). All three nights had basically fair observing conditions.

Telescope Clinic:
There was a clinic in which members helped Robert Goskins align his finder scope to his Meade LX 200 and talked about using his Tuthill Polar Axis Alignment finder.

Old Business:
President Deneen presented the information on the change over to the new website. There will be a onetime charge of $1,400 for the initial installation and a $24/month for 60 club members. There will be a vote on the spending issue at the May business meeting.

New Business:

Entertainment for the evening was the club members showing and explain their favorite or new astronomy gadgets.

Meeting adjourned 9:15 PM.
