Minutes of the NSAAC Business Meeting January 4, 2019

President Deneen called the January Business Meeting of the NSAAC to order at 7:40 PM. There were 6 board members present and 7 club members. There was a quorum. Meeting was official. There were three visitors: Tony Corsino, Matt Schnek, and Maria Luce.

The minutes of the December business meeting were approved by acclamation.

Treasurer paid the Club Insurance for the next year.

There are currently approximately 60 members in good standing.

Merrimack College:
The observatory was opened on Jan 16th with two scout groups coming through. Chris Duston set up scopes outside to stager two groups of 15 each. They also had another 15 members of the public attending. There will be a training session in the observatory on February 19th. Anyone interested in being an operator at the observatory should come and get trained on the operation of the scope and how to run an observing session.

Salem University:
Observatory was open on January 14th with 2 local and 13 school students. The Observatory dome has rotted in places and water is leaking in. Must get this fixed as the whole dome could collape. Dennis would still appreciate help from anyone who would like to help run the observatory. Contact Dennis Gudzevich if interested.

Star Party Committee:
Except for viewing after club meetings the next scheduled star party will be in March.2019 at the Wilmington Library.
Brewster will be running a new sign up for 2018/19 “first responders” soon.

Telescope Clinic:
No report

New Business:
Club elections are coming right up in March, and Kevin Roy has agreed to be the chairman of the nominating committee and he will send out a slate of candidates and information on the March elections to the list server.

Entertainment for the evening was a presentation by club member John Hobbs on some of his favorite and some of his new astro photos.

Meeting adjourned 8:45 PM.
