Minutes of the NSAAC Business Meeting December 7, 2018

President Deneen called the December Business Meeting of the NSAAC to order at 7:39 PM. There were 5 board members present and 8 club members. There was a quorum. Meeting was official. There were two visitors: John Gagan and David Berube.

The minutes of the November business meeting were approved by acclamation..

Treasurer Sampson filed the IRS notification of tax exempt status.

There are currently approximately 58 members in good standing.

Merrimack College:
The observatory was closed all month because of bad weather.

Salem University:
Observatory is still closed. The college wants to place a seal between the roof and the observatory. Dennis is not sure how that will work. Dennis would still appreciate help from anyone who would like to help run the observatory. Contact Dennis Gudzevich if interested.

Star Party Committee:
The last star party of the year was at South School in Andover with about 90 attendees. Thanks to all who provided scopes.
Brewster will be running a new sign up for 2018/19 “first responders” soon.

Telescope Clinic:
No report.

Old Business:
We are going to move the club website to the domain “Club Express” at a cost of $1,500 and $24/month. This is the same domain that the Atmobs use.

New Business:

Entertainment for the evening was a presentation by Glen Chaple entitled “Humor in Astronomy” which included cartoon featuring astronomy that he has found in books, magazines and the internet.

Members adjourned to the new observing site to see the close conjunction of Mars and Neptune.

Meeting adjourned 8:05 PM.
