Minutes of the NSAAC Business Meeting June 1, 2018

President Deneen called the June Business Meeting of the NSAAC to order at 7:40 PM. There were 5 board members present and 9 club members. There was a quorum. Meeting was official. There were 5 visitors..

Secretary:
The minutes of the May business meeting was approved by acclamation..

Treasurer:
Treasurer is in the process of submitting the IRS filing update for our Not for Profit Status.

Membership:
There are currently approximately 55 members in good standing.

Merrimack College:
The observatory was opened on June 23rd with 6 visitors.

Salem University:
Observatory was open on May 2nd with 18 guests from Scout troop 60245, Salem, MA and 4 Salem University students. On May 7th he opened with only 5 guests. Dennis would still appreciate help from anyone who would like to help run the observatory. Contact Dennis Gudzevich if interested.

Star Party Committee:
All the May events were cancelled due to bad weather.

Next events:
Thursday June 14th, River Valley Charter School (Newburyport), at Salisbury State Park
August, 2nd week at Hamilton Wenham library
NSAAC Annual Star Party (Sails & Trails Weekend #2): Fri 9/28 and Sat 9/29.
Sat Oct 13th: Malden Waitt’s Mount rescheduled
The Bob Seibel 10″ Dob is available for club members to borrow! It would be great to see this scope get out and about more.

Telescope Clinic:
No report.

Old Business:
Don’t forget to pay your club dues of $20.

Brewster LaMacchia is working on getting an update to our server because of the many recent problems due to the server being hacked. A committee has been established to assist Brewster in this effort. Contact Brewster if interested.

New Business:
John Hobbs is working on a new permit for use of Dark Park.

Entertainment:
Entertainment for the evening was members showing their new or favorite gadgets. Richard Leucke finished his presentation on the various uses of Sky Safari in the field and John Gall de-scribed his remote setup for observing and imaging at home.

Meeting adjourned 9:30 PM.
