10/7/2016 Meeting & Observing

At our monthly meeting Dick Luecke gave an excellent presentation about the Acadia Star Party in Bar Harbor, which had over 50 scopes and 1900 visitors to the main observing event. Details are available from http://www.acadianightskyfestival.com/

Options for assisting with other National Parks were also presented, please contact Dick for details.

Afterwards about 15 people headed over to Boy Scout Park to observe, with about 6 telescopes set up for viewing. Members and guests viewed a wide range of objects: including  M13, M15, M27, M31, M32, M33, M57, as well as numerous double stars, open clusters, Mars, Uranus, and Neptune. Conditions were reasonable though not as dark as other occasions. The last of us packed up around 10:30.
