 Early Meeting Announcements:

Open forum on the agenda after New Business

Committee Reports:

 Merrimack College:

Kevin Ackert was clouded out.  Fred Sammartino opened on two nights with about 15 visitors each night..

Salem University:

Dennis was open on May 5th with 15 visitors.  The observatory is closed for the summer. After the summer settles down, Dennis and Ron Sampson will do some maintenance on the scope. Dennis has submitted a request to the University for a Solar Scope but has not heard back from them.

 News, Correspondence, and Upcoming Activities:

 Star Party Committee:

We had a successful event with great turnout at Holton Richmond Middle School in Danvers on May 6th. The AB Bruce (Lawrence) event planned for May 20th was canceled due to a conflict at the school. The Camp Kent star party in Amesbury attendance was impacted due to the town-wide lockdown after some crazy with guns crashed a stolen a police car about 2 miles away and went off into the woods.

Next events are Chelmsford Land Trust Fri Aug 1 (rain: 2nd)

Danvers Library @ Endicott Park Tues Aug 19 (rain 21st). More info will be
posted in July.

Plan to hold Essex Heritage Sails & Trails star party at Veasey on the two Fridays of the event periods: 9/19 and 9/26. No indoor presentations.

Thank you to all the volunteers that assisted this spring.

Other groups that have asked to be scheduled (for a retry) for the fall:
Lawrence AB Bruce Elementary
Amesbury Elementary
Amesbury Camp Kent
Tewksbury Ryan Middle School

Telescope Clinic:

Bryan Stone, Ron Sampson, and Kevin Ackert assisted collimated Sarah Gould Celestron 130 and started work on John Hobbs 10 inch DOBs. .

YAP Program:

Bryan Stone indicated that Orion no longer sales the six inch Inteliscope DOB.  Kevin plans to make the program an ongoing program maybe twice a year.  The club wants to get more students involved and award a better telescope such as the eight inch Inteliscope DOB.

Old Business:

The club still would like to find other volunteers to do star party presentations.  If anyone is interested please contact Brewster LaMacchia.

The club was bumped from the meeting room because of events scheduled by Veasey and not on their calendar.  The club seems to not be on the Veasey radar screen.  Kevin Ackert will draft a letter approved by the Board to Veasey management about this issue.

Kevin Ackert will email John Tulick of the Mass DCR to update the permit for Dark Park.

New Business:

Kevin asked if the club wanted to get into in some programs for the summer or Moose Dodge.  It was tabled to the board meeting.

The June Board meeting date will be Monday June 16th at 7:30 PM at Veasey.

Meeting adjourned 8:40 PM.

Respectively submitted

John Hobbs, Secretary NSAAC
