The star party was attended by about 60 Danvers 6th graders and family. After a presentation, views of Saturn and Jupiter were available with scopes from John Gall, Bryan Stone, Leor Zolman, Kevin Ackert, and Ted Blank. Unfortunately lights from the baseball field at the school prevented views of deep sky objects. The two YAP winners were present and very enthusiastic about receiving their new optics. The night ended around 9:30 with a few students and two members of Danvers police department taking “last views” before everyone packed up.
Brewster LaMacchia discussing craters and why astronomers are so interested in them, and why they tell us there may be fish in an ocean on Europa.
