The reservation recently held a small star party (their first) to increase awareness of the reservation. NSAAC was represented by Dr. Eric Reines.
Approximately ten people attended, including young children and older adults. Jim Keating (former Marblehead science teacher) delighted us with his introductions to the rising pink moon and the surprise (that he prepared for) appearance of the International Space Station. We got good views of the moon through his binoculars and of Jupiter with all four Galilean moons through Eric’s telescope. There were many “Aaahhh” and “Ooohhh” moments and Jim gave many memorable explanations. A reporter from the Marblehead Reporter attended also. Juice and cookies were enjoyed as well.
